Ashby jobs, applied to properly the first time

Ashby forms are strict about formats and dislike half-finished attempts. That makes filling them correctly in a single pass the whole game.

Who uses it
Well-funded startups and scale-ups, increasingly the default for newer technology companies.

Ashby is the newer ATS in the well-funded startup market. Its forms are clean, modern, and stricter about formats than most.

What actually happens

  1. You land on the posting

Ashby postings live on `jobs.ashbyhq.com` or embedded in the employer’s careers page.

  2. A clean but strict form

Identity, resume, optional cover letter, then employer questions - often including structured dropdowns for location, work authorisation and seniority.

  3. Read the options, then answer once

We read every field and its available options before answering, so a dropdown gets a committed selection rather than typed text. Then we fill the whole form in one pass rather than probing it.

  4. Confirmed by them

Submit, then wait for the employer’s confirmation.

What trips people up

  • Ashby validates fields live. Phone numbers in particular often need a country code, and a rejected value can block submit without an obvious message.
  • Ashby is noticeably more sensitive than other systems to a form that gets half-filled and then abandoned and retried. Filling it once, completely, in one pass is the right approach - and it is what we do.
  • Dropdown answers must be genuinely selected from the list. Typing matching text into the box is not the same as committing the option, and a form can look answered while the value never registered.

How you know it landed

A confirmation screen, usually followed by an employer email. Some Ashby employers send a branded acknowledgement almost immediately.

Questions people actually ask

Normally no. Ashby application forms are public. Some employers bolt on their own extra flow, but the standard Ashby form does not ask you to register.

Ashby forms validate as you type. If a field looks rejected, it is usually a format issue - a phone number without a country code is the classic one.
