IT Procurement Specialist / Indirect Buyer (6-Month Temporary Assignment)

About the Role

This is a temporary position with an initial duration of six (6) months.

We are seeking an experienced IT Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing and procurement of indirect technology-related goods and services. This role will be responsible for categories including telecommunications, mobile devices, hardware, software, IT infrastructure, networking equipment, and related technology services.

The ideal candidate combines strong procurement expertise with a solid understanding of the technology industry. We are particularly interested in professionals who have worked within technology manufacturers, distributors, value-added resellers, or IT service providers and can leverage market intelligence to generate savings opportunities, optimize supplier relationships, and support strategic business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Manage procurement activities for IT and indirect spend categories, including:

Telecommunications services (Telmex, Telcel, carriers, connectivity services).

Mobile devices and accessories.

Laptops, desktops, servers, keyboards, monitors, and IT assets.

Software licenses, SaaS subscriptions, and technology solutions.

Networking and infrastructure equipment.

Develop and execute sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, service, and supplier performance.

Lead supplier selection processes, RFQs, RFPs, and competitive bidding events.

Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, service agreements, renewals, and enterprise contracts to achieve best-value outcomes.

Analyze spend data and procurement trends to identify cost reduction opportunities, process improvements, and sourcing efficiencies.

Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Conduct total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis and support budgeting and forecasting activities.

Monitor technology market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging solutions to provide strategic recommendations.

Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations highlighting sourcing performance, savings initiatives, risk mitigation strategies, and category insights.

Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, legal requirements, and procurement best practices.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.

5+ years of procurement, sourcing, or category management experience within IT, technology, telecommunications, or indirect purchasing.

Experience purchasing technology products and services such as:

Hardware

Software

Telecommunications

Mobile devices

IT infrastructure

Networking solutions

Prior experience working for technology manufacturers, distributors, resellers, or technology service providers such as HP, Lenovo, Dell, TD Synnex, Ingram Micro, CDW, or similar organizations preferred.

Strong contract negotiation and vendor management experience.

Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

Advanced Excel proficiency including:

Pivot Tables

Complex formulas

Data modeling

Macros/VBA preferred

Experience using data analytics to identify spend trends, sourcing opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.

Ability to present complex data and recommendations to senior leadership.
