About the role
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Carpenter to join our landscaping team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, repairing, and maintaining timber and other outdoor structures as part of residential, commercial, and landscape development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Construct and install decks, pergolas, gazebos, fences, gates, screens, benches, planter boxes, timber edging, and other landscape structures.
Read and interpret drawings, plans, and measurements.
Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install timber and other materials.
Carry out carpentry work according to project specifications and quality standards.
Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, and other carpentry equipment.
Repair and maintain existing timber and outdoor structures.
Work closely with landscapers, supervisors, designers, and other trades.
Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and within the required timeframe.
Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Minimise material waste and use materials efficiently.
Follow company policies, site rules, and occupational health and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2–5 years of practical carpentry experience, preferably in landscaping or outdoor construction.
Previous experience with timber structures and landscape construction is highly desirable.
Knowledge of carpentry materials, tools, equipment, and construction techniques.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
Valid driver's licence is an advantage.
Relevant safety training or construction/site safety certification is desirable.
Requirements:
Strong practical carpentry skills and attention to detail.
Ability to accurately measure, cut, assemble, and install materials.
Good knowledge of timber, fixings, finishes, and outdoor construction materials.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, climb, and perform manual work for extended periods.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong time-management and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.
Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude.
Willingness to travel between different project sites when required.
