Landscape Gardener
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and hardworking Landscape Gardener to join our landscaping team. The Landscape Gardener will be responsible for maintaining and improving gardens, lawns, plants, trees, and landscaped areas. The role involves planting, pruning, lawn care, irrigation maintenance, garden preparation, and general landscape maintenance to ensure outdoor areas remain healthy, attractive, and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare soil, garden beds, planting areas, and landscape sites.
Plant, transplant, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, hedges, and other plants.
Perform lawn mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, aeration, and weed control.
Prune and trim trees, shrubs, hedges, and ornamental plants.
Identify common plant diseases, pests, and other plant health issues and take appropriate action.
Install, maintain, and repair basic irrigation and watering systems.
Apply fertilizers, mulch, compost, and other soil amendments as required.
Operate gardening and landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, blowers, and other power tools.
Maintain garden paths, planting areas, beds, and other landscaped features.
Remove weeds, leaves, branches, and other garden waste.
Assist with landscape construction and installation activities when required.
Carry out regular maintenance of residential, commercial, public, and other landscaped areas.
Ensure plants and landscaped areas are maintained according to project specifications and client requirements.
Maintain gardening tools, machinery, and equipment in good working condition.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
Work efficiently and professionally while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications:
Certificate, diploma, or recognized vocational qualification in Horticulture, Landscaping, Gardening, or a related field is preferred.
Relevant horticultural or landscaping training is an advantage.
Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in gardening, landscaping, horticulture, or landscape maintenance.
Practical knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, lawns, soil preparation, and garden maintenance.
Basic knowledge of irrigation systems and landscape maintenance equipment.
Valid driver's licence is preferred.
Relevant health and safety or machinery-operation certifications are an advantage.
Requirements:
Good knowledge of gardening and horticultural practices.
Ability to identify common plants, weeds, pests, and plant diseases.
Ability to operate gardening machinery and power tools safely.
Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual work for extended periods.
Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, wet, or varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift, carry, bend, kneel, dig, and perform other physical tasks.
Good attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality landscapes.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
Good time-management and organisational skills.
Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
Willingness to travel between different landscaping and maintenance sites when required.
