Overall Purpose of The Job
This role will sit within our newly forming Finance Data & Analytics function, with the long-term ambition of building a self-sufficient team capable of owning and delivering end-to-end finance data solutions. A key part of this role will be to influence and guide data development through collaboration and well-defined specifications, working within a governance framework designed to evolve over time.
Over time, as the Finance Data & Analytics team grows and governance structures mature, we expect the Data Analysts to assume greater ownership of the end-to-end data model and reporting lifecycle within the Finance domain.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
Data Analysis & Insights
Produce high-quality financial and operational analysis for Group and business units, including trends, variances, performance insights, and KPI monitoring.
Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.
Develop and automate recurring insight reports to improve efficiency and ensure consistent access to reliable information.
Power BI Reporting & Data Model Management
Maintain and enhance enterprise Power BI data models, dashboards, and semantic layers.
Optimise existing reports for performance, usability, and alignment to business definitions and governance principles.
Manage data relationships, DAX measures, and model calculations to ensure accuracy and consistency across reports.
Support the rollout of new BI products or enhancements, including user training and documentation.
Data Governance & Quality
Monitor and investigate data gaps, inconsistencies, or quality issues, ensuring timely resolution and accurate reporting.
Work with the IT/Data Engineering team to troubleshoot data pipeline issues and implement improvements.
Support adherence to data governance standards, data dictionary updates, and alignment to the organisation’s data strategy.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a bridge between Finance and cross-functional teams (Commercial, Operations, HR) to understand data needs and provide relevant insights.
Collaborate with IT to ensure finance and business requirements are translated into robust technical solutions.
Provide support and guidance to business users of Power BI, including training on self-service analytics.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes, automate manual tasks, and improve data accessibility.
Contribute to ongoing enhancements in Group reporting, forecasting, and planning processes.
Stay abreast of Power BI updates, analytics best practices, and emerging technologies that could improve decision support.

Essential
Strong analytical background with experience in finance, business analytics, or data analysis.
Proficiency in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, Power Query, and report creation.
Solid understanding of financial concepts (P&L, balance sheet, KPI measurement, budgeting/forecasting).
Ability to work with complex datasets and derive meaningful insights.
Experience working cross-functionally with Finance, Commercial, HR, or Operations teams.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working alongside IT/Data Engineering teams to resolve data issues.
Desirable
Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Fabric, Snowflake, SQL).
Knowledge of finance systems or ERP data structures.
Exposure to data governance or master data management principles.
Experience in process automation (e.g., Python, Power Automate) is an advantage.
