GL Accountant (SSC) @ Bukit Jelutong

Position Summary

The Financial Shared Services GL Accountant is responsible for performing a broad range of General Ledger (GL) accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while maintaining compliance with corporate policies, accounting standards, and internal control procedures. The position reports directly to the Finance Service Site Leader and collaborates closely with operational units and accounting teams across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Perform daily General Ledger accounting activities, including:

Fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and reconciliation.

AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) and CIP (Construction in Progress) tracking.

Asset disposal, transfers, and impairment reserve bookings.

Lease accounting and related reporting.

Inventory adjustments and reporting.

Other General Ledger journal entries and account-related activities.

Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and completed within established timelines.

Prepare monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and management reports in accordance with Group reporting requirements.

Prepare financial analysis, account reconciliations, and variance analysis for management review.

Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and applicable accounting standards.

Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing relevant documentation, schedules, and supporting information.

Collaborate with operational units and regional/divisional accounting teams to resolve accounting issues and ensure smooth financial operations.

Support the Finance Team Leader in process improvement, system integration, and accounting process automation initiatives.

Perform other accounting-related duties and ad hoc assignments as assigned by the Team Leader.

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

3–5 years of relevant operational experience, preferably within Finance, Accounting, General Ledger, or a Shared Services environment.

Good working knowledge of General Accounting principles, with exposure to US GAAP and local GAAP preferred.

Strong understanding of month-end closing, financial reporting, account reconciliation, fixed assets, and other GL-related activities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with knowledge of Power BI being an advantage.

Strong work ethic, integrity, and attention to detail.

Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and regional teams.

Good team player with a proactive mindset and willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM7,500.00 per month
