POSITION PURPOSE:

Assists with performing analysis to support the identification and prioritization of IT projects that support corporate business strategy. Participates in analysis of the impact to the existing portfolio when new projects surface and works with senior portfolio analysts, functional and project managers to identify alternative strategies (resources, project sequencing, etc.). Supports analysis and reporting on trends that could have a potential negative impact to other projects functionally or financially. With senior portfolio analysts, performs project cost estimating, scheduling, milestone tracking and reporting. Follows standard methods for project performance monitoring, reporting, analysis, trend assessment, scheduling and estimating. Provides support to Project Advisory and/or Project Justification committees by identifying items and/or trends that could affect projects or in response to follow-up items from committee meetings.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Supports use of best practices, techniques and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.

Assists senior portfolio analysts along with the financial organization to quantify project benefits in a way that will enable objective evaluation of projects against company objectives and aid project approval decision-making.

Assists in ensuring all required data for making decisions is complete and available.

Supports efforts to monitor and report status on milestone schedule commitments, resource commitments and constraints.

Assists with performing IT project portfolio analysis for the benefit of other TVA organizations. This includes the development of applicable financial and field evaluations and the final recommendations to the manager of the applicable organization.

Assists senior portfolio analysts in representing ADMIN, Information Services, on agency-wide projects and/or providing support to various committees (which often include several officers of the corporation) that have been established to resolve key business issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education –A B.S. Degree in a business related field; or equivalent education, training & experience.

Experience –Three or more years in the field of project management, engineering, accounting, economics, mathematics, or business administration.

Certification/License, etc - Project management related certifications desired.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Demonstrated knowledge in project management, accounting, financial analysis or risk analysis; a working knowledge of the principals of business administration, economics, mathematics, and the utility industry concepts. Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills and communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with all levels of TVA management, vendors, and other senior level professionals. Must be self-motivated and capable of performing most assignments with limited supervision. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
