POSITION PURPOSE:

Accountable for activities relating to TVA’s involvement with industrial development and power supply matters for prospective new or expanding industrial plants to encourage them to locate in the TVA region to make more efficient use of the TVA power system resources and attract new jobs and capital investment to the region. Incumbent works directly with General Manager, Marketing Development and Field Operations, and leaders of eight Regional Industrial Development Associations, state economic development agencies, site selection consultants, and private companies to help attract new investment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Recruitment of industry to the TVA region; seen as expert in targeted industry sector, travel to targeted industry markets, interface and influence with top level industry leaders in those markets. Represents the TVA brand on a national and international level.

Project management, working as sole TVA point of contact for recruitment and retention business projects to and in the TVA region. External and internal broker of new investment to the TVA region, serves as a conduit for TVA services.

Relationship management within industry targets, including consultants and company executives.

Responsible for researching and compiling market analysis on targeted industries, helping create strategy around the recruitment of those industries.

Responsible for delivering and communicating information regarding TVA power supply, pricing, and other services that TVA offers to potential and current direct serve customers and local power companies’ potential and current customers.

Works directly with local, state and federal economic development professionals and leaders to promote the TVA region, create job growth, grow investment and increase load and revenue for TVA.

Accountable for providing prompt and accurate technical assistance to industrial and headquarter prospects and their representatives, as well as to regional, state, and local industrial development organizations The principal types of assistance involve information related to:

Site and building attributes

Power and other utility capacities

Incentives offered by TVA and allies

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education – Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economic development or related field of study. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience – Minimum of 6 years of economic development experience and/ or sales and/or marketing experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must have knowledge of industrial power contracts; knowledge of the majority of TVA’s business operations; knowledge of power distributor systems and attitudes relative to industrial development; and familiarity with industrial plant power requirements and economic factors involved in plant site selections. Must be able to provide technical assistance, primarily related to site selection and the Tennessee Valley attributes, to prospective industry, industrial development organizations, and consultants representing industrial clients, and assists local power companies. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions. Candidate will be required to travel.
