The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or aspiring accounting professional looking to build a career in finance.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller and gain hands-on experience across all key accounting functions while receiving support to pursue a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA. You will gain exposure to the full accounting cycle within a growing business.
This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
The role will initially be part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) with the potential to increase hours in the future.
Key Responsibilities
You will gain experience and provide support across a broad range of finance activities, including:
Processing supplier invoices and preparing supplier payment runs
Raising customer quotes and invoices, and assisting with credit control activities
Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations, and investigating and resolving discrepancies
Assisting with the preparation and filing of VAT and other Revenue returns
Assisting with payroll processing and maintaining employee records
Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including audit, internal reporting, and budgets/forecasts
Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation
Participating in general admin, process improvement initiatives and ad hoc projects
Skills & Experience
Essential
Relevant third-level qualification in Accounting, Business, STEM, or a related discipline
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work independently in a remote setting and take ownership of tasks
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
Previous internship, work placement, or part-time experience in an office environment
Familiarity with Xero or a similar accounting package
