About the role

SumUp Limited is our Central Bank of Ireland regulated electronic money institution, and it's entering a defining period of its growth. As Chief Operating Officer, you'll take overall accountability for the firm's internal operations, working alongside the SumUp executive team to make sure our governance, resilience, and regulatory standards match the scale of what we're building. This is a rare chance to shape the operating backbone of a regulated fintech from a senior, board level seat, at a moment when the firm is actively strengthening its structure and controls to support future growth.

What you'll do

Set and deliver SumUp Limited's operational strategy in partnership with the senior leadership team

Own the firm's outsourcing strategy, including governance, oversight, risk assessment, and the outsourcing register

Maintain regulatory accountability documents, including the Statement of Responsibilities and the Management Responsibility Map under SEAR

Act as a senior point of contact for the Central Bank of Ireland, supporting inspections and regulatory engagement

Own operational resilience, business continuity, and wind down planning, including testing and incident response

Provide regular operational reporting to the CEO, board, and Central Bank of Ireland on performance, risk, and compliance

You'll be great for this role if…

Significant senior leadership experience in an operations role within a Central Bank of Ireland regulated financial services firm or e-money institution

Strong working knowledge of the Individual Accountability Framework, SEAR, and Fitness and Probity requirements, gained through holding or supporting a PCF role

Track record of managing large, complex operational organisations across multiple markets

Experience owning outsourcing governance, operational resilience frameworks, and regulatory compliance programmes

Ability to deliver operational transformation and efficiency at scale while managing regulator relationships credibly and transparently
