Operations Manager

As Operations Manager you will report to the Hotel Manager. You will guide and manage hotel operations effectively, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strategic growth, and high-performance standards while fostering a positive work environment and driving financial success.

Your Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operation of the hotel, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Lead and support departmental managers across all operational areas.

Act as the senior operational lead in the absence of the Hotel Manager.

Ensure all departments consistently achieve brand standards, SOPs and quality audits.

Drive a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement throughout the hotel.

People Management

Lead, coach and develop departmental managers and their teams to achieve individual and business objectives.

Manage performance through regular reviews, development planning and succession planning.

Support recruitment, onboarding, retention and employee engagement initiatives.

Lead employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes in line with company policies.

Financial Commercial Management

Deliver agreed operational budgets and labour targets.

Monitor departmental performance, productivity and costs, implementing corrective actions where required.

Work closely with the Revenue and Sales teams to maximise revenue opportunities and profitability.

Analyse operational and financial reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

Guest Experience

Champion exceptional guest service across all areas of the hotel.

Proactivly monitor guest feedback platforms and implement action plans to address trends and improve satisfaction scores.

Maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel, engaging with guests and supporting the operational teams.

Health, Safety Compliance

Ensure full compliance with all Health Safety, fire safety, food safety and statutory requirements.

Lead the hotel's Health Safety programme, ensuring a safe environment for guests, employees and contractors.

Manage the completion and follow-up of internal audits and quality assurance reviews.

Lead and coordinate all statutory and external audits, inspections and compliance visits.

Liaise with external authorities and official bodies on behalf of the hotel, including local authorities, environmental health, HSE, fire authorities and licensing bodies where required.

Ensure all compliance documentation, risk assessments and statutory records are maintained and up to date.

Property Asset Management

Work with the Maintenance team to ensure the hotel is maintained to the highest standard.

Support the planning and execution of capital expenditure projects and property improvement plans.

Ensure preventative maintenance programmes are effectively managed and completed.

Impement stategy where required.

Leadership Expectations

Lead by example and act as an ambassador for the hotel and the Dalata values.

Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Support the Hotel Manager in delivering the strategic objectives of the hotel.

Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture focused on excellence and results.

What You Will Need:

Minimum 2 years' experience as a senior departmental manager in a full-service hotel (Rooms Division Manager, Operations Manager, Deputy General Manager or equivalent).

Demonstrable experience managing multiple departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food Beverage and Maintenance.

Proven responsibility for labour management, payroll control and departmental PLs.

Experience leading recruitment, disciplinary, grievance and performance management processes.

Strong understanding of hotel revenue performance, forecasting and commercial decision-making.

Proven experience delivering budgets and controlling departmental costs.

Comprehensive understanding of Health Safety legislation, fire safety compliance and statutory hotel compliance requirements.

Proven experience managing internal audits and leading statutory and external audits.

Experience liaising and working with external authorities and official bodies on behalf of the hotel, including regulatory and enforcement agencies where required.

Ability to lead Duty Management shifts and take responsibility for the overall hotel operation.

Excellent coaching and people development skills, with evidence of developing future leaders.
