Senior Systems Engineer - Akamai to CloudFront

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the migration of content delivery workloads from Akamai to Amazon CloudFront. In this role, you will design and implement scalable CDN solutions, configure security controls, and ensure seamless traffic cutovers while maintaining high performance and reliability across the migrated infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Execute migration of content delivery workloads from Akamai to Amazon CloudFront, including origin configurations, cache behaviors, and edge locations

Design and implement CloudFront distributions with appropriate cache policies, origin request policies, and response headers

Configure AWS WAF rules, web ACLs, and managed rule groups to protect migrated workloads

Develop and maintain Terraform modules for CloudFront, WAF, and supporting AWS resources

Perform cache validation, latency testing, and traffic cutover verification during migration phases

Produce runbooks, architecture diagrams, and operational handover documentation

Requirements

5-12 years of professional experience as a Systems Engineer

Expertise in Amazon CloudFront, including distribution configuration, cache behaviors, and origins

Proficiency in AWS WAF, including web ACLs, managed rules, and custom rules

Familiarity with Akamai CDN for migration mapping purposes

Skills in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code on AWS resources

Background in Java and Python for scripting and automation

Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher
