The Effector Digital Products department is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with FPGA development and/or verification experience to join its team. In this role, you will develop and verify FPGA designs across major FPGA vendors and device families, including Xilinx, Altera, and Microsemi.
FPGA designs are implemented primarily using VHDL for applications including:
Gigabit serial interfaces and multi-gigabit transceivers
Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) digital signal processing
Controls
Data links
Embedded processing
Processor interfaces
Engineers collaborate closely with circuit card designers and systems engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Design and deliver production-quality FPGA releases from initial proof of concept through production.
Architect FPGA-based systems, including selection of devices, interfaces, and Concept of Operations (CONOPS).
Translate system-level requirements into detailed FPGA requirements.
Develop reliable and maintainable VHDL designs.
Perform FPGA simulation, synthesis, implementation, and place-and-route activities.
Develop and execute directed and constrained-random verification tests.
Implement self-checking verification techniques while tracking functional and code coverage.
Support FPGA integration, hardware debug, and system-level testing.
Collaborate with circuit card designers, systems engineers, and other engineering disciplines.
Help develop and maintain requirements, verification plans, design documentation, and user guides.
Support internal and external technical reviews.
Contribute to project execution and help deliver programs according to schedule and budget.
Provide engineering support throughout the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition through integration and test.
Maintain appropriate configuration management and design documentation.
Required Qualifications
Depending on the level of the position, 2 - 8 years of engineering experience, with experience in at least one of the following areas:
Digital design and VHDL coding
Xilinx or Microsemi FPGA devices and associated development tools
Delivering FPGA solutions for system-level applications
Hands-on FPGA integration and debugging
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
Radar processing techniques
Image processing for visible and infrared sensors
Embedded systems using ARM, MicroBlaze, or Nios processors
Gigabit serial interfaces and multi-gigabit transceivers (MGTs)
Constrained-random verification using UVM and SystemVerilog
FPGA verification using hardware emulation platforms such as Veloce
FPGA architecture and system-level design
Hardware/software integration and debugging
Experience in adoption and/or integration of emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, digital assistants) into day-to-day operations for continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Mostly Office Environments, Occasional Shop Floor involvement.
Substantial amounts of telephone and computer work.
Heavily Regulated Industries with strict adherence to procedures.
Flexibility to meet business deadlines by staying late or arriving early.
Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9AM to 4PM
Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.

Compensation
This FPGA Engineer role pays $61k-$70k/yr. Within typical range for fpga engineer roles in United States.
