About the role
O’Connor Woodwork Solutions is looking for a motivated 1st or 2nd Year Carpentry & Joinery Apprentice to join our team.
This opportunity is suitable for someone looking to begin their apprenticeship, as well as an existing second-year apprentice looking to continue their training with an established carpentry and joinery company.
O’Connor Woodwork Solutions is a fourth-generation, family-run business specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke joinery for commercial fit-outs. Our projects include schools, healthcare facilities, offices and other commercial developments.
The Role
As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced qualified carpenters and joiners, gaining practical experience both in the workshop and on commercial sites.
Successful applicants will be registered with SOLAS on the seven-phase Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship and will receive training throughout their on-the-job phases.
Training and experience will include:
Finish carpentry and joinery
Fitted furniture and bespoke joinery
Commercial site fitting
Reading and working from drawings
Use of a wide range of woodworking machinery and tools
Working alongside experienced qualified carpenters and joiners
Experience across a variety of commercial projects
Travel to sites throughout Cork will form part of the role, so applicants must have a full driving licence and their own transport.

Previous work experience is beneficial but is not essential. Experience does not need to be in carpentry or joinery. We welcome applicants with experience in practical, construction, manufacturing, workshop, farming or other hands-on environments, as well as candidates looking to begin their first trade career.
