Location: Just Right Middle East FZCO, Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, UAE

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Sheet Extrusion Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of sheet extrusion production lines. The operator will manufacture high-quality plastic sheets while ensuring production targets, product quality, equipment safety, and housekeeping standards are achieved.

The operator will process various engineering thermoplastics including:

PMMA (Acrylic)

Polycarbonate (PC)

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)

The role requires a thorough understanding of extrusion parameters, machine setup, raw material handling, process monitoring, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and quality inspection.

Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation

Operate sheet extrusion production lines safely and efficiently.

Start up and shut down the extrusion line according to approved SOPs.

Monitor the entire production process continuously.

Maintain stable machine operation throughout production.

Produce sheets according to approved specifications.

Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising quality.

Material Preparation

Prepare and handle raw materials including:

PMMA

Polycarbonate (PC)

ABS

Virgin materials

Regrind materials (where approved)

Masterbatch

Additives

Responsibilities include:

Verify correct material before loading.

Check material batch numbers.

Dry hygroscopic materials according to specifications.

Ensure hopper dryers are operating correctly.

Prevent contamination between different materials.

Follow FIFO (First In First Out).

Machine Setup

Set and monitor:

Barrel temperature profile

Die temperatures

Melt temperature

Screw RPM

Feed rate

Vacuum systems

Screen changer

Melt pressure

Hydraulic pressure

Roller temperatures

Roller gap

Roller speed

Haul-off speed

Edge trimming system

Cooling system

Process Monitoring

Continuously monitor:

Melt pressure

Melt temperature

Motor load

Screw torque

Extruder current

Vacuum pressure

Roller temperature

Cooling water temperature

Sheet thickness

Surface quality

Product dimensions

Production speed

Record production parameters as required.

Product Quality Control

Inspect every production run for:

Correct thickness

Width

Length

Flatness

Surface finish

Gloss level

Opacity

Colour consistency

Transparency

Emboss quality (where applicable)

Internal bubbles

Black specks

Die lines

Scratches

Gels

Burn marks

Flow lines

Surface contamination

Edge quality

Immediately report any abnormality.

Changeover

Perform product changeovers including:

Material changes

Colour changes

Thickness changes

Width adjustments

Die cleaning

Screen changes

Roller cleaning

Ensure minimum downtime.

Troubleshooting

Identify and assist in correcting:

Thickness variation

Bubble formation

Surface defects

Die lines

Burnt material

Black specks

Flow marks

Poor transparency

Roller marks

Edge trimming problems

Material feeding issues

Temperature fluctuations

Pressure instability

Cooling problems

Escalate major issues to the Production Supervisor.

Equipment Cleaning

Maintain cleanliness of:

Extruder

Feed hopper

Hopper dryer

Vacuum loader

Die head

T-Die

Calender rollers

Cooling rollers

Puller

Edge trim unit

Winder

Control panel

Machine surroundings

Follow approved cleaning procedures.

Safety Responsibilities

Always:

Wear required PPE.

Follow Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.

Handle hot components safely.

Maintain safe working practices.

Keep work areas clean.

Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Follow company HSE procedures.

Never bypass machine safety devices.

Preventive Maintenance Support

Assist maintenance personnel by:

Daily machine inspections

Lubrication where required

Reporting oil leaks

Reporting unusual vibrations

Reporting abnormal noise

Reporting overheating

Checking heaters

Checking thermocouples

Checking air pressure

Checking cooling water circulation

Documentation

Maintain accurate records including:

Production reports

Material consumption

Machine parameters

Downtime reports

Quality inspection records

Shift handover reports

Scrap reports

Maintenance observations

Skills & Competencies

The operator should possess:

Strong understanding of plastic sheet extrusion

Knowledge of PMMA processing

Knowledge of Polycarbonate processing

Knowledge of ABS processing

Ability to adjust extrusion parameters

Good troubleshooting ability

Mechanical aptitude

Attention to detail

Quality-focused mindset

Teamwork and communication skills

Safe working practices

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Polymer Engineering is an advantage.

3–5 years of experience operating sheet extrusion lines.

Experience processing PMMA, Polycarbonate, and ABS sheets.

Experience with T-Die sheet extrusion systems.

Basic knowledge of extrusion machinery maintenance.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Machine uptime ≥ 95%

First-pass quality ≥ 98%

Scrap rate ≤ 3%

Production target achievement ≥ 95%

Zero safety violations

Zero contamination incidents

Accurate production documentation

On-time completion of changeovers

Minimal unplanned downtime

Compliance with all SOPs and quality standards

Working Conditions

Manufacturing environment with rotating shifts as required.

Exposure to hot machinery, moving equipment, and industrial noise.

Standing for extended periods.

Manual handling of raw materials and finished products.

Use of PPE at all times.

Performance Expectations

A successful Sheet Extrusion Machine Operator will:

Produce consistent, high-quality PMMA, PC, and ABS sheets.

Operate the extrusion line safely and efficiently.

Minimize waste and downtime.

Maintain excellent housekeeping standards.

Follow all SOPs, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
