Android - Capture App

Focus

Android Development, External Device Integration

About the Role

We are looking for an Android Engineer who brings strong fundamentals, crisp problem-solving instincts, and a genuine curiosity for how devices talk to each other. You will work on the core capture pipeline, own features end-to-end, and help shape how our app integrates with external camera hardware.

What You’ll Do

Design and build features for the Android capture app, owning them from spec to production.

Integrate and maintain communication with external camera devices over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB.

Write clean, testable Java/Kotlin code and participate actively in code reviews.

Debug and profile performance bottlenecks across the networking and media layers.

Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver polished user-facing features.

Contribute to improving architecture, tooling, and engineering practices.

Required QualificationsAndroid & Core Engineering

1–2 years of hands-on Android development experience in Kotlin and/or Java.

Solid grasp of Android fundamentals: Activity/Fragment lifecycle, ViewModels, LiveData/Flow, Jetpack libraries.

Comfortable with MVVM or MVP architecture patterns.

Strong sense of code clarity, structure, and maintainability.

Data Structures, Algorithms & Problem Solving

Demonstrable proficiency in DSA - arrays, trees, graphs, hash maps, queues, sorting, and searching.

Ability to reason through algorithmic complexity (time and space) and make informed trade-offs.

Clear, structured communication of thought process during problem-solving - we care as much about how you think as what you produce.

Android UI

Understands Android rendering and animation well enough to build smooth, well-designed capture screens.

Cares about UI performance - keeps UIs smooth and responsive, not just functional.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

Prior experience integrating a third-party external camera SDK (e.g., Insta360, GoPro, DJI, or similar).

Familiarity with OSC (Open Spherical Camera) protocol.

Experience with Android Camera2 API or CameraX for device-native camera work.

Exposure to 360° / spherical video rendering or stitching concepts.

Contributions to open-source projects or a visible portfolio of side projects.

Who You Are

You explain your reasoning clearly - not just what you built, but why.

You are methodical when debugging and don’t stop at surface-level fixes.

You pick up new protocols and SDKs quickly because you understand the underlying concepts.

You are comfortable asking questions early rather than building in the wrong direction.

You take ownership of your work and follow through without needing hand-holding.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year

Benefits:

Cell phone reimbursement

Health insurance

Paid sick time

Provident Fund

Work from home

Application Question(s):

How many years of Android development experience do you have?

Do you work mainly in Kotlin or Java?

Education:

Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

Data Structures & Algorithms: 1 year (Required)

Networking basics (HTTP, TCP/IP): 1 year (Required)

Work Location: In person
