About the team and the role
The Cloud Data Technologies (CDT) team at eBay is responsible for eBay’s data infrastructure, including the experimentation platform and the end-to-end data lifecycle, from onsite data through to analytics use cases.
We are seeking a Data Scientist to help improve the speed and quality of decision-making by applying advanced data science methods and turning complex data into actionable insights. You will have the chance to work on projects involving machine learning-based bot traffic detection and customer profile development. This includes improving A/B testing methods such as interleaving tests, sequential testing, and Bayesian methods.
What you will accomplish
Contribute to complex data science projects, from analysis through model development and performance evaluation.
Develop and implement advanced statistical models and machine learning algorithms to address business and data challenges.
Support experimentation and causal inference initiatives, including A/B and multivariate testing and improvements to testing methodologies.
Use advanced SQL to work with large-scale datasets and optimize big data queries.
Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define requirements and develop data solutions that support effective decision-making.
Contribute to machine learning use cases such as bot traffic detection and customer profile development.
Evaluate relevant developments in data science and identify new technologies or methodologies that could improve existing approaches.
What you will bring
5+ years of relevant experience with a master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or another quantitative field.
Experience building statistical or machine learning models and evaluating model performance.
Proficiency in Python or R and relevant machine learning libraries, such as scikit-learn or GBM.
Advanced SQL skills, including experience optimizing queries for large-scale data.
Experience working with Hadoop and Spark in cloud environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and experience deploying machine learning models in production environments.
Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain complex findings to non-technical audiences.
