About the Role:

The Senior Tax Manager is a leadership position responsible for overseeing complex tax compliance, tax planning, and client advisory services for a diverse portfolio of individuals and business entities. This role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional who excels at managing client relationships, reviewing tax engagements, mentoring staff, and delivering strategic tax solutions. The Tax Manager works closely with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality service, regulatory compliance, and proactive tax planning while contributing to business development and practice growth.

Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and sign federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and other business entities.

Lead all phases of tax engagements, including tax compliance, tax planning, consulting, and special projects.

Analyze complex tax scenarios to identify opportunities for tax savings, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

Develop strategic tax solutions and clearly communicate recommendations to clients and engagement teams.

Build and maintain strong client relationships by understanding business objectives and delivering proactive advisory services.

Serve as a trusted advisor by providing guidance on evolving tax laws, IRS regulations, and compliance requirements.

Participate in business development initiatives by identifying growth opportunities, supporting proposal efforts, and expanding client relationships.

Review client billings to ensure accuracy and alignment with services provided.

Supervise, mentor, and develop Tax Associates and Senior Tax Associates through coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.

Delegate work effectively while monitoring engagement progress, quality, budgets, and deadlines.

Support staff training through technical education, professional development, and knowledge sharing.

Stay current on federal, state, and local tax legislation and incorporate regulatory changes into client strategies and firm processes.

Utilize tax software, research tools, and technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, and client service.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.

Active Certified Public Accountant, CPA, license or Enrolled Agent, EA, certification.

Minimum of 8-12 years of progressive public accounting tax experience.

Extensive knowledge of federal and state tax laws, tax accounting principles, and IRS regulations.

Experience preparing and reviewing complex tax returns for individuals and various business entities.

Strong technical tax research, tax planning, and consulting experience.

Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting professionals.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Strong organizational and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple client engagements simultaneously.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a client-focused consulting approach.

Proficiency with professional tax software, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting technology platforms.

Self-motivated professional who works effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.

Ability to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Compensation
