Real Estate Accountant

Job Summary

We are currently hiring an analytical Real Estate Accountant to support the financial operations of our property portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and contributing to the overall financial performance of real estate assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for multiple residential/commercial properties and entities

Manage accounts payable and receivable, including rent rolls and vendor payments

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Track and report on property-level financial performance and profitability

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies

Coordinate with property management on financial matters, including operating expenses and capital expenditures

Support audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries

Maintain general ledger accuracy and oversee journal entries

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management

Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)

Proficiency in Yardi accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or progress toward certification

Knowledge of real estate financial structures, including leases and CAM reconciliations

Work Environment:
