About the role
Position Summary
We are seeking a bilingual, detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) Accountant with a background in construction accounting. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of hands-on experience managing full-cycle AR and AP functions within the construction industry and be proficient in QuickBooks, AvidXchange, and Knowify.
This role requires an understanding of job costing, subcontractor compliance, retainage, and project-based billing.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
Manage full-cycle AR, including progress billing, time & materials billing, and retainage tracking
Prepare and submit AIA billings and pay applications
Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding invoices
Reconcile AR subledger to general ledger
Process credit memos and adjustments
Prepare aging reports and assist with cash flow forecasting
Accounts Payable
Manage full-cycle AP, coding, and approval workflow
Process vendor payments via AvidXchange
Ensure proper job cost allocation and GL coding
Track subcontractor compliance documents (COIs, W-9s, lien waivers)
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
Construction Accounting Functions
Maintain accurate job cost records in Knowify and QuickBooks
Support project managers with cost tracking and reporting
Participate in month-end and year-end close processes
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
Strong understanding of construction billing and job costing
Proficiency in AvidXchange, QuickBooks, and Knowify
Experience with AIA billing preferred
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication and vendor/customer service skills
