Responsibilities - What you’ll do
What you’ll do:
This is a licensed professional position accountable for:
Providing psychiatric and medical care to adult patients
These may include the following:
o Admissions to NMPRC
o Performing medical and psychiatric assessments
o Diagnosing of psychiatric and other illnesses of NMPRC patients using DSM-5
o Planning, prescribing and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to manage pharmacological treatment of psychiatric disorder in the adult patient
o Planning, prescribing and collaborating with nurse practitioners and/or physical medicine provider to manage the treatment of medical disorders and conditions of adult patients with specialty consultation available either in-house or using appropriate outside specialists
o Provide individual psychotherapy as needed for adult patients
o Provide group psychotherapy as needed for adult patients
o Requesting and interpreting of diagnostic laboratory studies and reports of adult patients
Acting as a collaborative practice physician and working with a Nurse Practitioner
An option to provide on-call duties and services for NMPRC which may include weeknights, weekends, and/or holidays for additional compensation
To provide coverage for other Medical Staff, as directed by the Medical Director
To serve on committees of the Medical Staff, as requested
To provide other administrative and patient care duties within the scope of your practice and as assigned
Respond to and provide services during emergencies and natural disasters, as needed
Qualifications - All you need for success
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of professional principles and practices of medicine and psychiatry, and of current theories and practices in the field of mental health
Knowledge of medications and their effects on physical and psychological disorders
Ability to provide court testimony regarding the status of patients’ psychological condition
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Licensure as a Psychiatrist in the State of Missouri
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Missouri license - We require candidates to possess an active Missouri physician’s license
Board Eligible / Board Certified in Psychiatry
