Project Manager l-Steel Detailing

vConstruct is seeking an experienced Project Manager I to lead Structural Steel detailing projects from planning through final delivery. The successful candidate will oversee project execution, manage multifunctional teams, coordinate with clients, and ensure high-quality, on-time, and cost-effective project delivery.

This role requires strong leadership, technical understanding, and excellent communication skills to successfully manage project schedules, resources, client expectations, and project risks.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Structural Steel detailing projects from kick-off through closeout.

Develop project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing resources.

Coordinate with other Project Managers on short and long-term staffing outlook.

Lead project teams consisting of Team Leaders, Detailers, Modelers, and Checkers.

Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.

Monitor project progress, budgets, schedules, and overall project health.

Review and approve project deliverables prior to submission.

Coordinate closely with Technical Managers to ensure technical quality and constructability.

Manage RFIs, design changes, reference models, and project documentation.

Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Prepare project monthly status reports and present updates to management and clients.

Mentor team members and support their professional development.

Promote continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Build trusted day-to-day relationships with clients, engineers, fabricators, and internal stakeholders.

Lead motivated project teams that consistently achieve delivery milestones.

Ensure models, drawings, and deliverables are technically accurate, coordinated, and fabrication-ready.

Effectively manage project scope, schedules, budgets, RFIs, design changes, and project risks.

Collaborate closely with Technical Managers to achieve both technical and operational excellence.

Coach Team Leaders and project team members while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

Proactively identify opportunities to improve project execution, workflows, and client satisfaction.

Maintain high client satisfaction and contribute to repeat business through reliable project delivery.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

More than 10-12 years of experience in Structural Steel detailing.

Project management and team leading experience within the detailing, VDC or BIM industry.

Experience managing multiple project teams and client relationships.

Microsoft Office Suite

BIM coordination and model review

Shop drawing review and approval

Structural detailing workflows

Knowledge of AISC, AWS, NISD, ASTM, OSHA and related industry standards

Preferred Skills

Experience with Design Assist, Design-Build, or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD)

Lean Construction knowledge

Strong leadership and coaching skills

Excellent communication and client management skills

PMP or equivalent certification (preferred)
