Warehouse Operative – FMCG Temperature-Controlled Environment

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative to join our busy FMCG operation within a temperature-controlled environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring stock is received, stored, controlled, and dispatched safely and efficiently, while maintaining high standards of food safety, housekeeping, and warehouse compliance.

Key Responsibilities

● Carry out goods-in activities, including receiving deliveries and checking quantities, product condition, temperatures, and documentation.

● Ensure incoming stock is correctly identified, labelled, and recorded on the warehouse management system.

● Put stock away into the correct warehouse locations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

● Maintain accurate stock control, including stock checks, cycle counts, and investigations into discrepancies.

● Follow FIFO/FEFO principles where applicable to ensure stock is rotated correctly.

● Pick and prepare stock accurately for production or customer orders.

● Check product codes, quantities, batch numbers, and use-by/best-before dates.

● Maintain full traceability of products and batches throughout the warehouse.

● Ensure all stock is stored at the correct temperature and in accordance with food safety requirements.

● Carry out regular checks of warehouse areas, chillers, and freezers and report any issues immediately.

● Maintain excellent warehouse housekeeping, ensuring work areas, racking, floors, and equipment are kept clean, tidy, and organised.

● Follow company procedures for food safety, HACCP, health & safety, manual handling, and hygiene.

● Operate warehouse equipment safely following appropriate training.

● Report damaged, contaminated, incorrectly labelled, or out-of-date stock to the relevant manager.

● Support loading and unloading of vehicles when required.

● Assist with stock rotation, replenishment, and general warehouse duties.

● Work closely with the Warehouse and Production teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

● Ensure all company procedures and legal requirements are followed at all times.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

● Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.

● Comfortable working in a chilled and/or frozen temperature-controlled environment.

● Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.

● Organised with good attention to detail.

● Able to work accurately under pressure in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

● A strong team player with a positive attitude.

● Able to follow procedures and maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.

● Experienced in warehouse, FMCG, food manufacturing, or distribution environments - desirable but not essential.

● Experienced with warehouse management systems or handheld scanners - desirable.

● Forklift experience/certification - desirable.
