Job Overview
We are a well established family run company based in Sittingbourne, Kent. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assembly Operative/Assistant Lifting Gear Engineer to join our experienced team. In this role, you will be instrumental in assembling wire rope assemblies in our works, Assisting in the inspecting, Testing and maintaining of customers lifting gear equipment, ensuring safety and quality standards are consistently met. Your hands-on approach and technical aptitude will contribute to the safe operation of lifting gear across various customer projects. This position offers an engaging environment where your skills will directly impact operational safety and efficiency. This position will involve some site location work, some of which are located near water, docks, and height
Responsibilities
Assemble lifting gear components accurately according to technical drawings and specifications
Assemble wire rope assemblies in our Sittingbourne workshop
Conduct thorough inspections of assembled equipment to identify defects or safety issues
Assist in the maintenance, repair, and testing of lifting gear to ensure compliance with safety standards, ie LOLER and PUWER regulations
Record detailed logs of assembly processes, inspections, and maintenance activities
Follow strict health and safety protocols during all stages of assembly and handling
Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve procedures
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency at all times
Previous experience in assembly work/Lifting Gear or a similar technical role is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail for precise assembly tasks
Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and safety instructions clearly
Basic understanding of health and safety regulations related to lifting equipment
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Willingness to learn new skills related to lifting gear inspection, testing, and maintenance
A proactive attitude with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement

Pay: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
