Why is this role important?
The Software Developer collaborates in the development and maintenance of software products that support CIHI’s products and services. Working as part of a project or multi-disciplinary team, the developer researches new technologies and methods, enhances existing system by performing coding, testing and quality assurance and deployments, develops documentation, and works on day-to-day application maintenance and end-user support.
What you'll do
1. Develop and support web and CMS-based applications, including configuration, customization, and integration of Drupal platforms.
2. Work as part of technical teams to develop information systems, which may include participation in requirements and feasibility analysis, coding, testing, quality assurance, implementation, and documentation, as well as day-to-day application maintenance and end-user support.
3. Participate in the analysis and resolution of software deficiencies, problems, and change requests.
4. Understand and incorporate end-user needs and expectations into solutions.
5. Research and apply new development tools and technologies.
6. Automate existing system processes and testing to improve operational efficiency.
7. Document code and maintain technical documentation.
8. Adhere to corporate system development standards, methodologies, and IT processes.
What you'll bring to the table
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
1-3 years experience in Software Development.
Experience working in complex front end web applications
Experience with software development lifecycle tools and processes.
Experience developing web-based applications using Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and Git.
Experience with backend integrations, APIs, and tools such as Composer, Gulp, and Solr.
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and cross-browser compatibility.
Knowledge of CKAN data management system is an asset
Ability to document code and technical processes.
Ability to plan and coordinate workload effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
