About the role

Goldenacre Grocery Limited operates Gilmerton Grocers, a 24-hour retail store in Edinburgh. Since starting with three employees, we have grown to a team of 18 and are now preparing to into three additional cities.

We are seeking a commercially minded Business Development Manager to identify new growth opportunities, develop partnerships, and support the company’s expansion across Scotland. This is a hands-on role involving business development, market research, supplier engagement, and relationship management.

Key responsibilities

Identify and develop new B2B partnerships with independent retailers, wholesalers, and local businesses.

Research potential markets and identify opportunities for expansion across Scotland.

Generate leads and convert them into profitable business relationships.

Develop strategies to increase customer acquisition, retention, and brand awareness.

Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and commercial partners.

Support the sourcing and introduction of new products.

Monitor competitors and market trends.

Prepare regular sales, market, and growth reports for management.

Contribute to the planning and launch of new locations.

About you

You should have:

2–3 years of experience in business development, sales, retail operations, FMCG, or wholesale.

A proven ability to generate leads and develop new commercial opportunities.

Experience building relationships with retailers, suppliers, wholesalers, or local businesses.

Good knowledge of the retail or FMCG market.

Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

A proactive and commercially focused approach.

The ability to work independently and contribute to a growing business.
