Embedded Firmware Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development, hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, peripheral driver development, and product development.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Embedded C/C++, ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, RTOS/Bare-metal development, BLE, hardware-software integration, and debugging. The candidate will be responsible for developing reliable firmware and supporting products through the complete development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through validation and production support.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESEmbedded Firmware Development

Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware using Embedded C/C++ for ARM Cortex-M based microcontrollers.

Develop firmware architecture for real-time embedded systems using Bare-metal, FreeRTOS, and Zephyr RTOS.

Develop reusable, modular, maintainable, and production-ready firmware.

Optimize firmware for performance, memory utilization, power consumption, and system reliability.

Hardware Bring-Up & Board-Level Debugging

Perform custom PCB bring-up, hardware validation, and board-level debugging for new embedded products.

Bring up new microcontrollers and peripherals and validate hardware interfaces.

Debug hardware/firmware integration issues using Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Multimeter, J-Link, ST-Link, GDB, and UART logs.

Perform root-cause analysis of complex hardware and firmware issues.

Peripheral Driver Development

Develop and integrate low-level drivers for:

GPIO | UART | SPI | I2C | ADC | DAC | PWM | Timers | DMA | RTC | USB | CAN | SDIO

Develop and validate device drivers and peripheral interfaces.

Interface sensors, microphones, displays, memory devices, motor drivers, and communication modules.

BLE / Wireless Firmware

Develop BLE applications using Nordic nRF Connect SDK and Zephyr RTOS.

Implement GATT services, characteristics, advertising, scanning, pairing, and secure BLE connections.

Debug and optimize BLE communication and connectivity issues.

Integrate BLE functionality with sensors, mobile applications, and embedded products.

Bootloader & Firmware Upgrade

Design and develop bootloader and application firmware.

Implement firmware upgrade mechanisms and flash-memory management.

Support secure/reliable firmware update and recovery mechanisms where applicable.

Testing & Product Validation

Perform unit testing, integration testing, hardware validation, and firmware verification.

Develop test procedures and support product-level validation.

Participate in design reviews, code reviews, debugging sessions, and root-cause analysis.

Support firmware releases and production bring-up.

Cross-Functional & Customer Support

Work closely with Hardware, PCB Design, Mechanical, QA, Testing, Applications, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams.

Support customer issue analysis, field debugging, and firmware enhancements.

Provide technical support during prototype, NPI, production, and product sustenance phases.

Documentation & Technical Leadership

Prepare firmware architecture documents, interface specifications, test reports, design documents, and debugging reports.

Maintain source code, configuration, and technical documentation using appropriate version-control practices.

Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on firmware development, debugging, and embedded best practices.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

5+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.

Strong hands-on experience with Embedded C and ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.

Proven experience in custom PCB bring-up and hardware-software integration.

Strong understanding of embedded systems, interrupts, timers, DMA, memory management, and peripheral interfaces.

Experience with at least one RTOS, preferably Zephyr or FreeRTOS.

Practical experience in debugging embedded hardware and firmware using lab equipment.

Experience working across the complete product development lifecycle.

Good understanding of Git-based software development and code-review practices.
