About KSM Stainless Steel Fabricators

Established in 1977, KSM Stainless Steel Fabricators Ltd. is a trusted custom metal manufacturing facility in Langley, BC. Specializing in high-precision stainless steel fabrication, architectural metalwork, commercial equipment, and custom sheet metal processing, we pride ourselves on exceptional craftsmanship, modern technology, and long-standing client relationships across the Lower Mainland.

Position Overview

We are looking for a detailed, technical Laser Programmer & Fabrication Estimator to join our team on-site in Langley. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating client drawings, building accurate material and labor cost estimates, and generating optimized programs for our CNC lasers and press brake equipment.

Because this role involves direct interaction with shop floor operations, physical material checks, and real-time collaboration with machine operators, remote work is not possible.

Key Responsibilities

Laser & Press Brake Programming

Program, nest, and optimize processing files using TRUMPF TruTops Boost for our 2 TRUMPF CO2 lasers and TruBend press brake.

Develop 3D CAD models, flat pattern sheet metal unfoldings, and bend sequences using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.

Maximize material yield through efficient nesting strategies to minimize scrap and control raw material costs.

Maintain organized CAD databases, cut/bend schedules, and material stock tracking for smooth shop floor execution.

Work directly with machine operators and the Shop Supervisor on the floor to troubleshoot programming files, tooling setups, and cutting parameters.

Estimating & Quotations

Review customer engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and blueprints to extract specs, material requirements, and tolerances.

Calculate laser cut times, TRUMPF press brake forming operations, and welding/finishing labor.

Prepare clear, detailed job quotes and cost estimates for review and client delivery.

Liaise with customers, project managers, and suppliers to clarify job specifications and source specialty materials.

Must-Have Qualifications

On-Site Availability: Ability to work full-time on-site in Langley, BC (remote work is not available).

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English communication skills are a must for direct interactions with clients, vendors, and shop personnel.

TruTops Boost Expertise: Hands-on experience using TRUMPF TruTops Boost to program TRUMPF CO2 lasers and TruBend press brakes.

3D CAD Software: Proficiency in SolidWorks (or directly transferable 3D mechanical CAD software) for sheet metal modelling, flat pattern development, and bend sequencing.

Sheet Metal Layout: Deep understanding of sheet metal layout, bend deductions, K-factors, material allowances, and flat pattern generation.

Fabrication Knowledge: Strong technical background in stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel grades, gauges, and secondary shop operations (forming, welding, graining/finishing).

Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret complex drawings across architectural, commercial, and custom projects.

Nice-to-Have & General Skills

3+ years of experience in a custom metal fabrication environment or job shop.

High precision with numerical data, material yield calculations, and dimensional tolerances.
