Electrical Apprentice (Phase 4 completed) – LV Switchgear Manufacturing
About the role
Have you completed Phase 4 of your Electrical Apprenticeship and are looking for somewhere you'll learn more than just installation work?
At Capital Switchgear, you'll work on the design and manufacture of low voltage switchgear and control panels used in some of the most demanding environments, including data centres, pharmaceutical facilities, hospitals, commercial developments and critical infrastructure projects.
This is an opportunity to continue your apprenticeship in a modern manufacturing environment where you'll develop a broad range of electrical and technical skills, working alongside experienced panel builders, electricians, testers and engineers.
What you’ll be doing:
As part of our Production team, you'll gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing process, including:
Building and assembling LV switchgear panels
Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and engineering drawings
Installing and terminating control wiring and power wiring
Mechanical assembly of electrical enclosures and components
Busbar preparation and assembly
Installing protection devices, meters, relays and control equipment
Fault finding and resolving wiring issues
Maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality and safety
Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to deliver projects on time
Every day is different. One week you could be building a distribution board for a commercial project, the next helping manufacture complex switchgear destined for a major data centre.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for someone who:
Has successfully completed Phase 4 of the SOLAS Electrical Apprenticeship
Has a genuine interest in electrical manufacturing and switchgear
Is curious, and willing to learn
Takes pride in producing high-quality work
Enjoys learning new skills
Works well as part of a team
Has good attention to detail
Wants to build a long-term career within the electrical industry
Experience in panel building is of course an advantage, but not essential – we'll teach you.
Why choose Capital Switchgear?

LV switchgear manufacture
Control panel assembly
Electrical testing & Fault finding
Quality inspection
Manufacturing processes
Reading complex engineering drawings
Working alongside experienced electrical engineers
These are highly transferable skills that will support your career long after you qualify.

Exposure to large-scale, technically challenging projects
