Safety and Risk Manager
About the role
JOB SUMMARY: The Safety & Risk Manager develops, implements, and manages programs that reduce organizational risk and promote a safe, compliant work environment. This position oversees safety operations, contract and insurance administration, fleet management, bonding, and subcontractor compliance while collaborating with field and office teams to improve processes, minimize risk, and support operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to execute the following duties effectively. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary:
Contract & Insurance Management
Lead the administration, review, negotiation, and execution of customer contracts, subcontract agreements, master service agreements, manufacturer agreements, and cooperative purchasing contracts to minimize contractual risk.
Manage the Company's insurance programs, including Certificates of Insurance (COIs), subcontractor compliance through TrustLayer, project-specific insurance requirements, and relationships with insurance brokers and carriers.
Administer the Company's bonding program, including bid, performance, and payment bonds, while maintaining strong relationships with bonding partners.
Monitor contractual, insurance, and claims activity, recommending strategies that reduce financial exposure and strengthen the Company's overall risk profile.
Safety & Risk Management
Lead Deer Park Roofing's safety and risk management programs by developing strategies, policies, and systems that protect employees, customers, assets, and the Company's reputation.
Lead, coach, and develop the Safety Managers and Fleet Coordinator by establishing expectations, monitoring performance, and fostering professional growth.
Build and sustain a culture of accountability where safety is integrated into daily operations and every employee is empowered to stop unsafe work.
Direct workplace incident investigations, OSHA interactions, workers' compensation administration, and regulatory compliance while ensuring timely corrective actions and effective return-to-work programs.
Analyze safety and operational risk metrics, identify trends, establish performance objectives, and present recommendations and action plans to Executive Leadership.
Partner with Operations and other departments to proactively identify emerging risks and implement continuous improvements that strengthen organizational performance.
Fleet Management
Lead the Company's fleet strategy by overseeing vehicle lifecycle planning, replacement schedules, maintenance programs, procurement, and operating standards.
Supervise the Fleet Coordinator while ensuring timely maintenance, effective fleet administration, and alignment with operational needs.
Utilize fleet performance metrics, including maintenance costs, fuel consumption, utilization, accident frequency, and safety scores, to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance driver safety.
Partner with Operations leadership to ensure fleet resources effectively support current and future business needs.
