About the Role

Join a small, fast-moving engineering team at a Y Combinator-backed conversational AI voice startup building the infrastructure that powers thousands of AI-driven phone calls every day. This is a high-impact, full-stack engineering role where you'll own projects end-to-end, influence core architecture decisions, and work directly alongside customers to ship meaningful product experiences in an AI-first, communications-enabled platform.

The company is on-site in Berlin, Germany - visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

What You'll Do

Work closely with customers to deeply understand their problems and design product experiences that solve real challenges.

Build and scale backend infrastructure capable of handling thousands of concurrent AI phone calls per day.

Craft intuitive front-end user experiences tailored to an AI-first product paradigm.

Own high-stakes projects from initial concept through production launch and post-release support.

Contribute to core architectural decisions alongside a senior, driven engineering team.

What We're Looking For

Required:

2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Strong PostgreSQL skills - including complex queries, performance tuning, and optimization.

Experience designing scalable backend architectures and making core product/architectural decisions.

Hands-on experience with scalable async processing or real-time processing systems.

Experience building products for AI-first or communications-enabled platforms.

Proficiency with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and/or Python.

Demonstrated ability to take a product from 0 to 1 and own it end-to-end.

Strong collaboration instincts - comfortable translating customer problems into product decisions with cross-functional teams.

Willingness to work on-site in Berlin, Germany (this is a dealbreaker requirement).

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with Temporal.io, Twilio, or Modal.

Prior experience at a startup or early-stage company.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $75,000 – $160,000 USD annually (range reflects experience level)

Location

This role is on-site in Berlin, Germany. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this position. Visa sponsorship is offered to qualifying candidates.
