About the role

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Solar Financial Modeling Specialist / Quantitative Analyst to review, audit, and validate the underwriting math, financial algorithms, and backend developer code for SolarProforma.ai - an institutional clean energy financial engine and procurement platform.

In this role, you will partner directly with our founder and lead full-stack developer to perform a comprehensive financial model audit. You will verify our 30-year cash flow mechanics, tax incentive logic (IRA Section 48/48E, Domestic Content adders, Foreign Entity of Concern / FEOC exclusions), debt/equity structuring, and automated proforma calculations to ensure bankability and institutional precision.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Model Audit & Formula Verification: Audit complex C&I solar financial models, verifying underlying formulas for 30-Year Cash Flows, Project IRR, Equity IRR, NPV, LCOE, Debt Service Coverage Ratios (DSCR), and payback periods.

Tax Incentive & Compliance Logic Review: Validate mathematical modeling of Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) incentives, including Domestic Content percentage thresholds, energy community adders, and FEOC filtering logic.

Developer Code Collaboration: Work directly with our software developer to review code implementations (converting financial formulas into backend functions) to ensure software outputs match institutional underwriting standards.

Stress-Testing & Edge-Case Auditing: Run sensitivity analyses and edge-case testing (e.g., varying degradation rates, blended hardware pricing structures, multi-tier utility escalation rates) to catch mathematical anomalies before production releases.

Bankability & Output Verification: Ensure output reports and proforma summaries meet the rigorous underwriting criteria required by commercial lenders, tax equity investors, and EPCs.

Qualifications & Requirements

Domain Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in C&I solar project finance, renewable energy underwriting, or quantitative financial modeling at an IPP, EPC, commercial solar developer, or clean energy fund.

Advanced Financial Modeling: Expert-level proficiency in financial proformas, cash flow modeling, discount rates, debt structuring, and tax credit mechanics.

Code Literacy: Ability to review formula logic in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or pseudocode alongside a developer.

Tax Credit Knowledge: Thorough understanding of IRA tax credit rules (Section 48/48E), Domestic Content guidance, and C&I power purchase agreement (PPA) / lease / cash purchase metrics.

Attention to Detail: Absolute precision with numbers, financial algorithms, and data verification.

Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Cliffwood, NJ 07721
