Barrs Pharmaceuticals is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company committed to producing high-quality, compliant and affordable healthcare products. We are seeking two experienced and motivated Production Pharmacists to join our Manufacturing team and support our Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) production operations.
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for two Production Pharmacists. One role will primarily focus on Manufacturing Operations and the other on Packaging Operations within our OSD facility. However, both successful candidates will be required to work across manufacturing and packaging functions as operational requirements dictate.
This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in ensuring the efficient production of pharmaceutical products while maintaining the highest standards of GMP compliance, quality and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee day-to-day manufacturing and packaging activities within the OSD facility.
Ensure compliance with SAHPRA regulations, PIC/S GMP requirements and company quality standards.
Review and verify batch manufacturing and packaging documentation.
Perform and oversee line clearances, line openings and in-process checks.
Investigate deviations, non-conformances and quality incidents, and drive CAPA implementation.
Lead and support Pharmacist Assistants and production personnel.
Support production planning and ensure achievement of production targets.
Participate in audits, inspections, validation activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm).
Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) and in good standing.
Minimum 5-10 years' pharmaceutical manufacturing experience.
Minimum 5 years' experience within an Oral Solid Dosage (OSD) manufacturing environment.
Experience in both manufacturing and packaging operations.
Experience within a SAHPRA-regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of GMP, SAHPRA regulations and PIC/S guidelines.
Experience managing deviations, investigations, CAPAs and batch documentation reviews.
Advantageous
Experience in tablet compression and coating operations.
Experience in blister and bottle packaging operations.
Experience participating in SAHPRA inspections and customer audits.
Experience in validation, qualification and technology transfer activities.
