About the role

Join AIR as a Quantitative Research Associate and use your analytical skills and research expertise to help us deliver on our mission: to generate and use rigorous evidence that contributes to a better, more equitable world for all. The Quantitative Research Associate will contribute to a range of research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects by supporting data management, statistical analysis, and the interpretation and communication of research findings. The position will also contribute to organizational growth through support for business development and proposal development.

This position will sit within AIR’s International Development program, supporting a range of research and technical assistance projects in low- and middle-income countries. The team works closely with major international donors, including the Gates Foundation, World Bank, U.S. Department of State, and UNICEF, to design and implement innovative approaches to inform policy and program design.

Candidates hired for the position need to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:

Assist project teams in compiling and synthesizing information (e.g., conducting literature reviews and policy scans).

Participate in the collection and review of research and evaluation data.

Analyze quantitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings.

Prepare documents, portions of reports, briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses.

Support proposal writing and business development activities.

Support project management tasks, including developing project timelines, coordinating meetings, and tracking project progress.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree in the social sciences or related fields.

Experience using quantitative data analysis software programs (Stata, R, QGIS, Google Earth Engine).

Skills

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and report writing.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.
