About the role
Position Summary
The Project Accountant is responsible for coordinating all phases of the construction job costing process including categorizing, recording, analyzing and monitoring costs and billings associated with a large construction project as well as several smaller less complex projects. This position also assures vendor compliance in order to manage project risk. This role is assigned to a large construction project, working closely with the Project Manager to assure timely and accurate accounting and risk management throughout the project life cycle.
Position Details
Compiles, prepares and analyzes monthly project billings per contract requirements.
Performs financial analysis and reconciliation of project costs versus project budget.
Manages vendor compliance, insurance, lien waivers, retention and W-9s
Produces and analyzes job performance and profitability through jobs cost tracking reports.
Assists in preparation of status reports and maintains accurate project statuses and budget information in COINs.
Identifies and resolves basic and more complex project-related accounting issues and resolves in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience
3-5 years’ of project accounting experience preferred
Strong accounting knowledge

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong customer service skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with intermediate to expert level ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. required

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Washington, this ranges from $37.78-$44.66 hourly plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
