Réalta Technologies are searching for an MES Engineer with over 5 years' experience to support a pharmaceutical client of ours based in Cork.
Job Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day support for the site's Manufacturing Execution System (MES), ensuring system availability and reliable operation within a GMP manufacturing environment.
Troubleshoot and resolve MES-related issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable corrective and preventative actions.
Support manufacturing operations by investigating system errors, recipe execution issues, electronic batch record (EBR) queries, and interface-related problems.
Perform MES configuration updates, system maintenance, and controlled changes in line with site change management procedures.
Execute impact assessments, testing, validation, and change control activities for MES enhancements, upgrades, and support requests.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Automation, Quality, Validation, IT, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and implement continuous improvements.
Support the integration and ongoing operation of MES interfaces with systems such as DCS, SCADA, ERP, LIMS, and historians where applicable.
Participate in system upgrades, patching activities, and lifecycle management initiatives while ensuring compliance with GMP and data integrity requirements.
Develop and maintain MES support documentation, SOPs, work instructions, and technical procedures.
Provide technical guidance and user support to manufacturing personnel, assisting with issue resolution and promoting best practices for MES usage.
Job Requirements
5+ years' experience as an MES Engineer within the life sciences industry.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
Strong experience supporting Manufacturing Execution Systems within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
Hands-on experience with Emerson Syncade is essential, ideally within an API manufacturing environment.
Experience supporting electronic batch records (EBRs), MES recipes, system configuration, and change control activities.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex MES issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective technical solutions.
Experience working with MES integrations to systems such as DCS, SCADA, ERP, LIMS, or other manufacturing systems would be highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of GMP, CSV, data integrity, and quality system requirements.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across Manufacturing, Automation, Quality, Validation, and IT teams.
A proactive approach to problem solving with strong analytical skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
