Job Description

GDIT’s Strategic Initiatives organization is seeking a seasoned federal procurement leader to shape enterprise-level acquisition strategies that drive competitive advantage across the Defense, Health, and Civilian sectors. As the Strategic Acquisitions Specialist, you will operate as a senior-level expert and trusted advisor, applying deep procurement experience to influence corporate strategy, architect alternative acquisition pathways, inform major investment decisions, and support high-impact competitive positioning. Your insights will shape significant pipeline pursuits, emerging acquisition strategies, and executive decision-making across the enterprise.

How you will make an impact:

Lead enterprise acquisition strategy development across the full opportunity lifecycle - from early shaping and qualification through capture, proposal, award, transition, and execution readiness.

Provide authoritative research, analysis, and assessments on acquisition pathways, competitive dynamics, evaluation criteria, pricing considerations, and risk factors to guide bid decisions and corporate growth priorities.

Develop strategies for alternative procurement pathways, including OTA Prototypes and Follow-on Production, CSOs, SBIR Phase III transitions, rapid acquisition/innovation cells, consortia-based OTAs, demonstrations, and BAAs.

Advise capture leaders, pricing teams, delivery executives, and senior strategy stakeholders on customer intent, evaluation posture, competitive positioning, and procurement risks.

Collaborate with contracts, legal, pricing, finance, delivery, and capture teams to operationalize acquisition strategies, ensure compliance, and drive readiness for execution.

Lead creation of executive-level briefings and decision materials that support strategic investments, alternative acquisition recommendations, and enterprise growth planning.

Monitor shifts in procurement policy, regulatory changes, and customer behavior; translate trends into actionable enterprise guidance and competitive strategy.

Shape early customer engagement and market-shaping strategies aligned to priority growth areas and emerging mission needs.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Bachelor’s degree or an 4+ years of acquisition related experience will substitute for a Bachelor's degree

10+ years’ experience in federal acquisition support, capture strategy, business development, or policy analysis

Strong acquisition strategy expertise, including the ability to shape acquisition approaches, interpret customer intent, and guide competitive positioning across the full lifecycle

Deep understanding of alternative acquisition pathways, including OTA Prototypes and Follow‑on Production, CSOs, SBIR Phase III, consortia‑based OTAs, and rapid acquisition mechanisms

Insight into source selection and evaluation processes, with the ability to anticipate evaluation factors, risks, tradeoffs, and competitive implications

Senior advisory and judgment skills, with demonstrated ability to support executive‑level decisions and develop clear, defensible strategic recommendations

Cross‑functional collaboration ability, including experience working with contracts, pricing, legal, finance, capture, and delivery to align on acquisition strategies

Ability to anticipate policy, regulatory, and market changes, and translate those shifts into actionable recommendations for early positioning and growth

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex acquisition and competitive information

Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence stakeholders without formal authority

Location: Hybrid work schedule of 3+ days per week in Falls Church, Virginia
