About the role
About the Role
We're looking for an organized, patient-focused Front Desk Coordinator to support a busy nephrology clinic. This role is the operational backbone of the patient visit - making sure labs are complete, referrals are secured, and appointments run smoothly before a patient ever sits down with the provider.
Nephrology care depends on tight coordination: labs need to be done before the visit, referrals from PCPs need to be chased down and confirmed, and patients need clear, timely communication about their upcoming appointments. If you're the kind of person who doesn't let a loose end sit for long, this role was built for you.
Practice Fusion EMR experience is required - this is a non-negotiable for the role, as it's the system you'll live in daily.
What You'll Do
Confirm patients have completed their labs prior to scheduled appointments, following up proactively when labs are missing or incomplete
Follow up with referring PCP offices to obtain and track down outstanding referrals needed for nephrology visits
Confirm upcoming patient appointments, reducing no-shows and keeping the schedule running smoothly
Provide full-time front desk support, serving as a key point of contact for patients, referring offices, and clinic staff
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in Practice Fusion EMR
Keep the day-to-day front desk workflow organized and moving, even when priorities shift quickly
Requirements
What You Bring
Practice Fusion EMR experience is a MUST - hands-on, working knowledge of the platform, not just general EMR familiarity
Nephrology experience strongly preferred - familiarity with lab requirements, referral patterns, and the general rhythm of a nephrology practice is a major plus
Strong follow-up instincts - comfortable making repeated outreach to PCP offices until a referral is secured
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for patient-facing and provider-office interactions
Ability to multitask across labs tracking, referral follow-up, and appointment confirmation without dropping any of the three
Availability to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM EST, full-time
Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional remote work setup
Benefits
Why This Role
You'll be a critical part of keeping a busy nephrology clinic running on time and on track - directly impacting patient care by making sure no one arrives for an appointment without the labs or referrals they need. It's fast-paced, detail-driven work with real day-to-day variety.
