Consultant – Tableau (BI & Data Visualization)

Purpose of the Job

We are looking for an experienced Tableau Lead Consultant to drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced BI and data visualization solutions. This role requires deep Tableau expertise combined with the ability to lead client engagements, mentor a team of developers, and act as the primary technical point of contact for stakeholders on BI initiatives.

We'll trust you to:

Lead end-to-end design and development of complex, interactive Tableau dashboards and visual analytics solutions.

Own client/stakeholder relationships for BI engagements - gather requirements, propose solution approaches, and manage delivery timelines.

Mentor and guide a team of Tableau developers/analysts, setting technical standards and best practices.

Design efficient data models, calculated fields, LOD expressions, and parameters to support scalable reporting.

Write and optimize complex SQL queries against enterprise data warehouses to support dashboard performance.

Own Tableau Server/Cloud administration tasks - site management, permissions, extract refresh scheduling, and performance tuning.

Conduct dashboard and code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to visualization best practices.

Partner with data engineering teams to strengthen upstream data pipelines feeding Tableau.

Present insights and recommendations directly to business/client leadership.

Stay current on new Tableau features, visualization trends, and BI methodologies; evangelize adoption within the team.

You'll need to have:

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

7+ years in Business Intelligence / Data Visualization, with 5+ years hands-on in Tableau.

Proven experience leading Tableau projects/teams in a consulting or client-facing environment.

Strong SQL skills - complex joins, window functions, query performance tuning.

Experience with enterprise data warehouses and dimensional modelling.

Prior experience as a client-facing consultant (proposal support, stakeholder workshops, solution architecture discussions) is important for this level.

Technical Skills

Expert-level Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server/Cloud administration.

Advanced LOD expressions, table calculations, parameters, actions, and dashboard performance optimization.

Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.

Data warehousing concepts, ETL/data integration exposure.

Cloud platform familiarity (Azure/AWS/GCP) is a plus.

Soft Skills

Strong client-facing communication and consulting presence.

Leadership and mentoring ability.

Ability to manage multiple engagements/deliverables simultaneously.

Strong data storytelling skills.

Preferred Skills

Tableau Certification (Desktop Specialist / Certified Data Analyst).

Pharma/Life Sciences or other regulated-industry analytics experience.

Exposure to Python/R for advanced analytics.

Experience with BI governance frameworks and Tableau deployment best practices.
