About the Role
We are seeking a licensed Industrial Electrician to troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and improve electrical systems on production equipment and facility services within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on troubleshooting role requiring strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, electrical schematics, and production equipment. Successful candidates must be able to diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production and packaging equipment.
Diagnose faults in motor control circuits, starters, relays, contactors, sensors, VFDs, and related components.
Read and interpret electrical schematics, control drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
Install, modify, and improve electrical systems and controls to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
Support equipment overhauls, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
Follow all safety, GMP, food safety, and quality requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Valid Ontario Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A) License.
Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Demonstrated experience troubleshooting:
Direct-On-Line (DOL) motor control systems
Motor starters, contactors, relays, overloads, and control circuits
Electrical distribution and machine controls
Sensors, switches, and industrial electrical components
Strong ability to read and interpret:
Electrical schematics
Control diagrams
Wiring drawings
Standard electrical symbols
Experience using electrical testing equipment including multimeters and troubleshooting tools.
Familiarity with PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems.
Ability to identify defective electrical components and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Technical Assessment
Candidates should be prepared to complete a technical assessment covering:
Electrical fundamentals
Motor controls and DOL circuits
Electrical symbols and schematic interpretation
Component identification
Troubleshooting of industrial electrical systems
Additional Requirements
Ability to work 12-hour day and overnight shifts.
Ability to lift, climb, and work in varying temperature conditions.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Excellent safety and attendance record.
Ability to work in compliance with GMP and food manufacturing requirements.
