About the role

Role Overview

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analysing, and interpreting data to support business decision-making. This role focuses on transforming complex datasets into actionable insights, ensuring data accuracy, and improving reporting processes.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, the Data Analyst will contribute to data-driven strategies, enhance reporting capabilities, and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Insights

Analyse large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and key business drivers

Translate data into meaningful insights to support strategic and operational decision-making

Perform ad-hoc analysis to investigate business questions and data anomalies

Reporting & Visualisation

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau

Present data insights in a clear and concise manner for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, consistent, and delivered on time

Data Management

Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data using tools such as SQL and/or Python

Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across multiple data sources

Identify and resolve data discrepancies and issues

Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements and objectives

Translate business needs into analytical solutions

Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations effectively

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and reduce manual effort

Support automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability

Contribute to continuous improvement in data practices and reporting standards

Key Relationships

Business stakeholders across departments (e.g. Operations, Finance, Marketing, Technology)

Data and analytics teams

IT and system support teams

Skills & Experience

Essential

Strong proficiency in SQL; experience with Python or R is advantageous

Experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)

Advanced Excel skills (e.g. PivotTables, formulas, data modelling)

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Financial services experience

Desirable

Experience working with large, complex datasets

Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes

Understanding of business performance metrics and KPIs

Capabilities & Attributes

Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Curious mindset with a passion for data and continuous learning

Ability to simplify complex information into clear insights
