Job Description
The Senior Product Manager is responsible for defining, delivering, and scaling core payment‑processing capabilities across global card‑present and card‑not‑present channels.
This role owns end‑to‑end product management for a defined set of payment platform capabilities, ensuring consistency, scalability, and alignment across gateways, processors, schemes, and downstream services. The Senior Manager partners closely with engineering, architecture, operations, risk, compliance, finance, and commercial teams to deliver high‑quality payment capabilities aligned with platform standards and regulatory requirements.
As a senior individual contributor, this role plays a key part in quarterly planning, roadmap execution, and cross‑team alignment within the Payment Processing Product Management organization and the broader Visa Acceptance Platform.
Payments Domain Expertise
Strong working knowledge of payment acceptance, processing, and orchestration, including authorization, settlement, tokenization, network rules, and payment‑scheme behaviors
Experience working with acquiring, gateway processing, issuer behaviors, and optionality across payment rails (card, wallets, A2A, alternative payments)
Familiarity with fraud‑management concepts (e.g., 3DS, routing strategies) is highly desirable
Product Strategy & Roadmap Execution
Contribute to and execute product strategy for assigned payment platform capabilities, including capability design and scaling considerations
Identify customer and market needs across merchants, PSPs, acquirers, and alternative payment methods
Translate customer, partner, and regulatory inputs into a clear, actionable roadmap/epic/features for payment flows and platform enhancements
Product Definition & Delivery
Define detailed product requirements, epics, features, process flows, and business rules for complex payment capabilities
Own cross‑functional readiness for assigned capabilities, including operational procedures, risk/compliance alignment, partner onboarding, and performance metrics
Participate in agile ceremonies as needed to ensure shared understanding and delivery against product goals
Ensure end‑to‑end payment experiences are well‑defined, including retries, fallbacks, routing logic, error handling, and user experience considerations
Data‑Driven Decision Making
Partner with analytics and operations teams to define KPIs, dashboards, and monitoring tools that support prioritization and performance tracking
Analyze trends such as authorization declines, fraud rates, routing effectiveness, and cost‑to‑serve to inform product improvements
Commercialization & Go‑to‑Market
Support development of value propositions, pricing inputs, merchant‑facing narratives, and readiness materials
Collaborate with sales, program management, finance, legal, compliance, UX, and partners to support go‑to‑market execution
Participate in merchant and partner engagements by clearly articulating product capabilities, differentiation, and roadmap direction
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 6 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
Minimum of 5 years of product management experience in payment processing domain and API‑based products.
Strong expertise in payments processing, including gateways, acquiring, scheme rules, lifecycle flows, and regulatory considerations
Experience defining API contracts, platform capabilities, and contributing to longer‑term product architecture decisions
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with a bias toward scalable, reusable product solutions
