Software Engineer – Enschede – ALTEN
As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our high-tech software engineering department in Enschede.
As a Software Engineer, your main tasks will include:
Design, develop, and test software that creates the network capabilities for the combat management system, including operator consoles, radar systems, and optical sensor systems.
Manage the entire development chain, including requirements analysis, development, testing, validation, and demonstrating the current status of the product.
Maintain software stability and performance across different Operating System releases.
Handle complex deployments of networks and systems in a high-stakes, resilient environment.
Collaborate within a Scaled Agile/Scrum framework to deliver cutting-edge naval applications.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and continuously implement modern software practices.
Your profile
This role requires Dutch security clearance due to work in the defence sector. Please note that only candidates who meet government eligibility requirements for this screening can be considered.
Completed bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, IT service management, system & network engineering or a comparable technical field.
Over 3 years of experience in software development and engineering.
Strong development skills in Python (both Object-Oriented and functional programming).
Solid experience with build pipelines and support tooling (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins, Maven, Jira).
Demonstrable knowledge or experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible).
Familiarity with network technologies (routing, switching, OSPF, multicast, and firewalling) is highly preferred.
A Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification and experience with Scaled Scrum are a plus.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
