We’re looking for an engineer who is passionate about developer productivity, build systems, and automation to enhance and scale our internal development experience. In this role, you’ll help shape the future of our build and testing ecosystem, optimize build/test workflows, and drive automation that improves the day-to-day experience of engineers across Adyen. What you’ll do
Work on systems and tooling that enhance developer experience by improving build and test performance, reliability, and automation at scale. Design, maintain, and evolve the build tooling ecosystem, including, custom Linters, Static Analysis Tools, and Gradle conventions/plugins. Optimize CI/CD pipelines and integrate intelligent tests and build selection mechanisms to reduce feedback time and increase efficiency. Implement automation to detect and mitigate flaky tests, dependency regressions, and slow builds. Enable modular, scalable, and independent build execution across a large codebase to support multiple teams and projects. Collaborate with engineers across product domains to identify build pain points and deliver scalable solutions. Continuously monitor build health and quality metrics to identify bottlenecks and drive measurable improvements. Introduce tools and best practices that enhance developer productivity and workflow consistency.
Who you are You have experience in:
Working with build systems such as Gradle or similar, with a good understanding of build lifecycle, dependency management, and caching. Applying test frameworks, test impact analysis, or flakiness detection techniques. Designing or maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, Temporal, or similar). Programming in Java, Kotlin, or Python. Implementing developer-focused automation or tooling (e.g., internal plugins, build analyzers, or CLIs). Working with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
Nice to have:
Experience with developer portals (e.g., Spotify Backstage). Building build analysis or observability tooling (e.g., Gradle Profiler, Develocity Build Scans). Experience integrating AI-assisted systems (LLMs, internal copilots) into developer workflows. Understanding of monorepo architectures and dependency graph management.
