Job Responsibilities

The National Unclaimed Property Practice is responsible for providing unclaimed property consulting and compliance services to clients spanning across various industries, ranging in size from the middle market to Fortune 100. The team evaluates and quantifies potential unclaimed property risk and resolves those risks through state voluntary disclosures, provides annual compliance services, represents clients in multi-state audits, assists in developing policies and procedures, and provides general consulting services on a wide variety of topics.

RSM is looking for an Unclaimed Property Supervisor to join our State & Local Tax ("SALT") practice. In your important role, you will be responsible for the following:

Assist clients with a variety of unclaimed property matters, including, but not limited to, review of client books and records to identify areas of unclaimed property risk, quantification of unclaimed property exposure and negotiation of voluntary disclosure agreements, annual compliance, due diligence reviews, planning, and other consulting services as needed.

Conduct unclaimed property audit defense/mitigation engagements, including review of audit assessments/work papers, document requests, and representation of clients in audit meetings.

Research, prepare, and or review technical memoranda and other client deliverables related to unclaimed property requirements.

Qualifications

Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.

Requires minimum of four (4) years of current or recent unclaimed property experience, including process reviews, exposure analysis, voluntary disclosure agreements, and/or audit defense.

Comprehensive technical skills,

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including familiarity researching state and local tax and unclaimed property laws and regulations.

Outstanding organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize multiple assignments.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

Position may require some travel

Preferred qualifications

Unclaimed property compliance experience a plus.

Familiarity with unclaimed property reporting software a plus.

Experience managing multiple projects and engagement teams for various clients.

Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills.

Project management and critical thinking skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to develop and foster client relationships.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $86,500 - $164,500

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
