Payroll & HR Administration Officer

Working in HR & Payroll, you'll help deliver accurate payroll services, support recruitment and onboarding activities, maintain employee records, and provide responsive advice to employees and managers across the organisation.

Location: City of Melville Civic Centre

Salary: Level 3/4 $74,751.96 to $87,756.70 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time

What You’ll Be Doing

Supporting fortnightly payroll processing and payroll administration activities.

Assisting with onboarding, employment documentation, contract variations, and employee record management.

Coordinating recruitment administration, including advertising, interview scheduling, and pre-employment checks.

Responding to payroll and HR enquiries with professionalism and accuracy.

Maintaining compliance within HR and payroll systems and contributing to process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

You'll bring strong administrative skills, attention to detail, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering accurate and professional payroll and HR support.

Essential Requirements

Current National Police Clearance.

High level of attention to detail with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Demonstrated experience in administration roles.

Well-developed time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to prioritise workloads and maintain flexibility in a high-volume environment.

Experience in resolving customer enquiries and issues.

Demonstrated experience using the Microsoft Office suite.

Desirable Requirements

Experience working within a local government or public sector environment.

Experience in award and agreement interpretation.

Demonstrated experience using payroll and HR information systems (Aurion highly desirable).

Payroll and/or HR experience or qualifications.

Working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards including superannuation, workers’ compensation, salary sacrifice arrangements, and employment conditions.

Well-developed problem-solving and decision-making skills.
