The Role

Join Crown Melbourne as our Operations Manager - Events & Conferencing and play a critical leadership role in delivering exceptional event experiences across one of Australia's largest and most prestigious hospitality and entertainment venues.

Reporting to the Head of Events & Conferencing, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Events & Conferencing business.

You will lead the day-to-day operations of our Events & Conferencing business, overseeing the successful delivery of conferences, gala dinners, exhibitions, corporate functions and large-scale events. This role is responsible for leading high-performing teams, maintaining financial performance and ensuring seamless execution across every event.

Working closely with operational leaders, event managers, clients and stakeholders, you will be instrumental in delivering memorable events while fostering a culture of engagement, accountability and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will:

Lead the day-to-day operations of Crown's Events & Conferencing team, ensuring seamless event execution across multiple venues and functions.

Oversee operational planning, workforce scheduling and resource allocation to achieve service, financial and operational objectives.

Build, coach and develop a large operational leadership team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on quality service.

Partner with Event Managers, culinary teams and support departments to coordinate successful events.

Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring expectations are exceeded and issues are resolved effectively.

Manage departmental budgets, labour costs, inventory and operational expenses to achieve financial targets.

Monitor operational standards and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service quality and efficiency.

Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, regulatory and company policies and procedures.

Act as a senior escalation point for operational challenges, customer concerns and complex event requirements.

Drive team engagement through coaching, performance management, recognition and development initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced hospitality and events leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. With a strong operational background and a passion for customer service, you are confident leading large teams and achieving strong results across competing priorities.

A highly organised and commercially minded professional, you enjoy building capability within your team, developing strong stakeholder relationships and delivering consistent service outcomes.

You will also bring:

Demonstrated leadership experience within events, banquets, conferencing, hospitality or large-scale food and beverage operations.

Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop diverse teams within a dynamic operational environment.

Strong financial acumen with experience managing labour costs, operational budgets and departmental performance.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across clients, operational teams and senior leaders.

Experience managing multiple operational priorities while maintaining exceptional service and quality standards.

Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Knowledge of event operations, food and beverage service standards and workplace compliance requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospitality management systems.

Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management (preferred).

A current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate is mandatory.
