Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Engineer / SME / Solution Architect with strong expertise in Atlassian Jira , integration development, automation, and AI-powered solutions. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of Jira administration, Jira APIs, migration strategies, solution architecture, and hands-on development experience.

This role requires a blend of technical leadership, solution design, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on engineering , driving enterprise-scale Jira transformation and integration initiatives.

Experience Required

10+ years of overall software engineering experience with 5+ years of Jira administration, integration, migration, and solution architecture experience in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Integration & API Development

Design and develop integrations using Jira REST APIs (GET, POST, PUT operations).

Build custom integrations between Jira and external enterprise applications.

Use tools such as Postman for API testing, troubleshooting, and validation.

Develop Java-based services, utilities, and automation scripts to support Jira ecosystem enhancements.

Troubleshoot API issues and optimize integration performance.

Migration & Transformation

Lead Jira migration initiatives, including:

Project-to-project migrations

Jira Server/Data Center to Jira Cloud migrations

Cross-instance Jira migrations

Perform data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation activities.

Develop migration strategies, rollback plans, and cutover approaches.

Ensure minimal business disruption during migration activities.

Solution Design & Technical Leadership

Drive technical discussions with business and technology stakeholders.

Create:

High-Level Solution Design (HLD) documents

Technical architecture diagrams

Integration specifications

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and support teams.

Review solution designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Jira Solution Architecture & Administration

Design and implement scalable Jira solutions for enterprise environments.

Configure and manage:

Permission Schemes

Workflow Schemes

Screen Schemes

Field Configuration Schemes

Issue Type Schemes

Create and maintain custom fields, workflows, screens, and automation rules.

Analyse business requirements and translate them into Jira solutions and technical designs.

Ensure governance, security, and best practices across Jira implementations.

AI & Atlassian Intelligence

Demonstrate strong understanding of Atlassian AI capabilities, particularly:

Rovo

Rovo Search

Rovo Agents

AI-driven productivity solutions

Design and implement Rovo Agent use cases to improve productivity, knowledge discovery, and workflow automation.

Identify opportunities to leverage AI capabilities within Jira and broader Atlassian ecosystem.

Proven experience delivering Jira migration projects.

Experience migrating Jira projects between instances and/or Jira Cloud.

Understanding of migration tools, data mapping, and migration validation techniques.

Solution Architecture Skills

Experience creating architecture and solution design documents.

Strong stakeholder management and technical communication skills.

Ability to lead architecture workshops and technical discussions.

Experience defining scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions.

AI & Atlassian Ecosystem

Knowledge of Atlassian Rovo and AI-powered capabilities.

Understanding of Rovo Agents and AI-driven workflow automation.

Familiarity with Atlassian Cloud ecosystem and emerging AI capabilities.

Other Requirements

1.Relevant certifications in rest, Jira, or Windchill technologies would be a plus.
