ING Bank

Bring your sector expertise to the world!

We are looking for a bright sector economist who will primarily cover the semiconductor value chain. This is a research job for someone who thrives in a setting that provides a lot of autonomy in how to shape the day-to-day tasks. Within ING Research we have a strong drive to share our expertise with clients, colleagues and journalists to help decisionmakers make better informed decisions. Besides being able to work independently and proactively, there will be ample opportunity to collaborate in projects across the department to create synergy between our sectors, macro and markets research teams.

Our Global Sector Research team is part of ING’s Global Research department. The team provides industry expertise to colleagues in both Wholesale Banking and Retail Banking, to clients and to journalists. We build views on a range of sectors including Technology, Media & Telecom and Automotive and work closely together with the other research teams in the department. At the end of the day, our purpose is to make economic, sectoral and market developments comprehensible and relevant for all our stakeholders.

Marieke Blom, Chief Economist and Head of Research: “once you join us, you will be part of a very dedicated and international team. Each of us creates insights on developments that impact the future for people and businesses. Anticipating the change is an opportunity to help shape it. If this is something that appeals to you, then you will be a great addition to the team.”

Role and responsibilities

As an ideal candidate you:

Are full of ideas for economic research articles and know how to combine quantitative and qualitative research methods to write to the point analysis.

Have a good understanding of what kind of insights our colleagues and clients are looking for in their (financial) decision making process.

Are opinionated and will strive to get the message across in a clear, actionable and coherent way.

Will cover a range of thematic topics related to semiconductors and AI, including the future position of the ecosystem in Brainport Eindhoven and the Netherlands and its leading companies (such as ASML). Besides that, you’ll be responsible for producing research on the growth outlook for the industry

Are used to looking at topics from different angles and know how to work with different scenarios.

Will publish on a frequent basis on our English and Dutch Research websites.

Will be responsible for executing the Sector Research Plan together with the TMT Sector Champion.
