What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Mechanical Product Engineer to play a key role in developing the next generation of high-performance data center chillers. In this exciting opportunity, you'll drive innovation from concept to launch, leading product design, testing, performance analysis, and project execution for cutting-edge thermal management solutions.

As a vital member of our global engineering organization, you'll work alongside talented engineers, product leaders, and business stakeholders around the world to bring new technologies to market. You'll also partner closely with manufacturing teams, serving as the technical voice of the design team and leading product improvements through engineering change initiatives.

Based at our state-of-the-art Advanced Engineering & Development Center in New Freedom, PA, you'll contribute to both new product development and the continuous improvement of products used by customers worldwide. From solving complex technical challenges in the factory and the field to influencing the future of sustainable cooling technology, you'll have a direct impact on some of the industry's most innovative solutions.

Candidates must be within commuting distance of New Freedom, PA, or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance packages are available.

How you will do it

Maintains understanding of theories, concepts, technical principles and processes related to mechanical and electrical aspects of chillers

Has proficiency in mechanical design and is able to conceptualize and implement design ideas into the product

Works closely with the design and drafting group in generating chiller layout concepts and system configurations

Generates engineering/design documentation and compiles technical documents for use within the company

Prepares and executes test plans to verify performance and reliability of electrical and mechanical components and systems

Reviews and analyzes test data and provides input for design and troubleshooting

Applies regulatory codes such as UL, CE, PED and ASME in product design

Possesses knowledge of manufacturing processes and applies the philosophy of designing to standard manufacturing processes

Reports on the status of the projects

Strives for continuous improvement and teamwork in a global product development environment

What you will need

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical

5 years experience with CAD software, product design, prototype testing, and design documentation

Experience in a design and product development

Preferred

Knowledge/experience in electrical engineering (electric motor design, motor control, electrical wiring)

Strong design background and knowledge/experience in refrigeration system and components (compressors, heat exchangers)

HVAC/R industry experience

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $125,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
